Rev. Michael J. Mahler, R.I.P.
July 2, 2009 by — 1 comment.
Fr. Mahler[1], in addition to being the priest under whom I first delved into liturgical music (with mixed results), was effectively my pastor for ten years at the Cornell Catholic Community. To hear of his passing away at such a relatively early age is sobering, though he could not have “picked” a more appropriate date. [...]

A multimedia news piece on Gregorian chant
April 13, 2009 by — 0 comments.
William Lauer of the Lincoln Journal Star recently visited Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary to interview faculty and seminarians of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter about their reflections on the technique and spirituality of Gregorian chant, and to photograph some of their liturgies and chant classes. He has produced an excellent eight-minute slideshow in [...]

June 2, 2003 by — 1 comment.
Someone has just accepted my position—he will be starting on the first of next month. He’s an evangelical Christian who will be thrust into liturgical worship, and I have a lot of hope for him precisely because he’s an “outsider” to a lot of the musical “worship wars”, etc.
I’m supposed to be meeting him sometime [...]
