April 16, 2009 by — 3 comments.
On NLM, Jeffrey Tucker and numerous commenters have shared thoughts on yesterday’s Installation Mass of Timothy M. Dolan as Archbishop of New York. (This entry is part 10 in the series “Sacred Music Television, Vol. I.”)
Os justi meditábitur sapiéntiam,
et lingua ejus loquétur judícium.
Lex Dei ejus in corde ipsíus:
et non supplantabúntur gressus ejus.
Allelúia.
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,

Alleluia.

Propter quod et Deus exaltavit illum,

[Christ became obedient for us unto death:
even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath exalted Him,
and hath given a Name
which [...]

A tale of two church music journals, in their own words
January 22, 2008 by — 0 comments.
Recently the Church Music Association of America released most of their Sacred Music journal archives from 1975-2007 in PDF format. Some months prior to this, the National Association of Pastoral Musicians made their Pastoral Music journal archives, of basically the same time period, freely available in the same format.
I was beginning to write a comment [...]

12:33 AM Downsview Park, ‘Vocations Celebration Concert’
A Vocations Celebration concert starts at 12:33 in the morning, with a virtuoso hard rock drummer, a screeching electric guitar solo, and a synthesizer.
