(This entry is part 5 in the series “Sacred Music Television, Vol. II.”)

Ave María,
grátia plena,
Dóminus tecum.
Benedícta tu in muliéribus
et benedíctus fructus ventris tui, Jesus.
Sancta María,
Sancta María,
María,
ora pro nobis peccatóribus,
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae.
Amen.

[Hail Mary,
full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Holy Mary,
O Mary,
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.]

I notice McFerrin faces the same challenge as organists do with this piece – keeping up with the singer(s) as they invariably push the melody along without observing the written rests, etc.!
