Credo VII

Andrew at the Fish Eaters Forum alerts fellow readers to a setting of the Credo previously unknown to me. Here is a JPEG scan of the notation. According to the editors of the edition from which it was scanned (presumably Solesmes), the melody dates from the thirteenth century.

This setting is based on a simple melodic formula reminiscent of the opening motif of Sanctus IV and introduces a melodic variation at the “Et incarnatus est…”

Anyone with further information on this setting (history, reasons for its omission, etc.) is welcome to share it in the comments.
