Colloquium 2007 videos now online
Video clips of the various Masses from the Church Music Association of America’s Sacred Music Colloquium XVII are now available on YouTube, courtesy of Darcy from the Gregorian Chant Blog. At the time of this writing she has made 34 videos available, covering four Masses.
These videos, besides highlighting the two types of sacred music explicitly mentioned by the Church in the documents of the Second Vatican Council—Gregorian chant and polyphony—also illustrate the options that the Ordinary Form of the Roman Missal offers. You will encounter this form of the Mass celebrated in Latin, both ad orientem and versus populum, as well as in English.
Readers may notice that the location of all of these Masses is the Crypt Church of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.—the same place where Pope Benedict XVI celebrated Vespers during his recently concluded Apostolic Journey.
