Unfortunate choice for postlude in the form of Symphony No. 9 in D minor – Ludwig van Beethoven
    Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee
Regardless of its spiritual meaning, it was officially adopted by the EU as the official anthem in 1985. I don’t think the Head of the Vatican State, was too impressed by this clear diplomatic protocol gaffe. I don’t think anyone would propose the anthem of, let’s say, China to greet the Pope.
