Pipe organ versus digital organ: an analogy

Apropos Michael Lawrence’s NLM post on pipe vs. digital organs, let me offer what I think is a fitting analogy:

Pipe organ is to digital organ as hardbound missal is to paperback missalette.

One could seriously have a field day counting how many ways the analogy fits. Care to take a crack at it?
