Interesting essay.
I don’t agree with quite everything it has to say, but it is certainly going in the right direction.
I am very glad to have sites such as yours and Brian’s (and Sacred Music, and New Gasparian, and a precious few other,) to read.
I’m thinking if I ever give up on music ministry and become a hobo again (and there are days — dealing with commitees and meetings and their “facilitators” is, to quote an old friend, “close ta makin’ me lose mah religion,” ) at least I’ll be able to compile a list of parishes where I could worship, in my travels, without being assaulted by nonsense, and garbage (and yesm i suppose that is an inflammatroy word, but it’s the one I mean,) in the Sacred Liturgy.

Too bad I’m east coast and not midwest. I’d be interested in Cantius. I love their style. Our Stations this Friday is being followed by a talk by none other than Helen Hull Hitchcock, editor of the “Adoremus Bulletin”. The topic is titled “Liturgy - What’s with all the changes?” Should be really good. ![]()

Bad Catholic Music
Somehow, I seem to have missed out on this gem by our friend J.A. Tucker of St. Cecilia Schola Cantorum. Jeffrey penned this article, entitled The Hidden Hand Behind Bad Catholic Music, which appeared in the January 2002 issue of…
