Every musical (or potentially musical) part of the Mass explicitly addressed by the General Instruction of the Roman Missal will be linked to relevant posts from the multi-part series, “A Musical Journey through GIRM”. Furthermore, the superscripted numbers represent the “progressive solemnity” as described in the 1967 document Musicam Sacram, and are linked to the relevant degree of solemnity. It is my hope that this will raise awareness and discussion of what the Church asks and allows regarding music in the Mass.
