I hope larger photos are available soon. I haven’t been able to find anything so far. It appears that there is not even a crucifix, but one can’t exactly tell due to the smallness of the photo. All they need to do is throw a set of organ pipes in the “former” sanctuary and it would look much like the Weakland job in Milwaukee!

The crucifix is at the top of the rood beam. The renovation looks to be a vast improvement over the former parish church-turned cathedral.

Where is the tabernacle? Is there one?

First thought: Oakland. Second impression: not ugly, but nothing that your average ELCA parishioner couldn’t live with.

The tabernacle was moved to a side chapel. Fr. Vosko *never* leaves it front and center. You can’t have anyone to be distracted by the notion of transubstantiation during the service.

Well, with the new lighting, parishioners can at least see clearly what was not really there. Isn’t that the point? They should be looking at (in order) GIA publications, the NRSV, and each other.
