  1. Geri says:

What is “RENEW” and why does it inspire such animus?

  2. Paul Rex says:

Geri, I’m sure every Catholic who lived through the ’80s will have story to tell about the RENEW movement. It was Church-promoted, and was supposed to help the faithful, especially cradle-Catholics, discover or re-discover their faith in light of the Second Vatican Council. Instead, we’ve found it was an excuse to promote whatever dissent or shenanigans the pastor had in mind, all in the name of reform and “spirit” of the Council. It probably should stand for Rest Easy Now Every Week, due to the number of Catholics who left the Church during that time, seeing as these reforms left little that was worth sacrificing for.

  3. Daniel Muller says:

    Miss Geri,

I wanted to stay far, far away from this question, but I cannot help but correct the possible misunderstanding that a description of RENEW must be in the past tense.

    Lady Macbeth, our inspiration!

    Thank you.
I have done a bit of internet reading now,, and am curious as to how a program with its— checkered past could have survived, even thived.

Prayer circles to the “Great Spirits of the Four Directions”?
