Musica Divina
The musical archive presented on this page was taken from a very special collection of sacred Renaissance polyphony edited & published by Karl Proske. Entitled MUSICA DIVINA, the 2000+ page collection was published in four volumes during 1853-1862. These magnificent pieces, composed by the great masters of the Renaissance, constitute what Dr. Proske called Polyphoniam Vere Ecclesiasticam: the True Polyphony of the Church.
Volumes 2-4 have been transcribed to Sibelius files courtesy of Jeff Ostrowski, a budding composer in his own right. Impressive work.

What am I missing?
Beautiful scores, but I only seem to be able to get a single page of each (rather than a complete piece,) and no words.
Is that what i am supposed to see?
Thanks for any information.
Sorry, I found the button to advance to the next page.
But even though I have Sibelius, (and as I said, the scores look beautiful,) they come up blank when I print them.
Any ideas?
Perhaps in the future Mr. Ostrowski will insert the words into all of the scores. As for now, however, it’s probably best to look for a full score on CPDL.org. - Ed.
You can, indeed, see and hear all pages of about 1,200 pages from Proske’s collection.
There are no words: why?
These scores are mainly there for people who:
1) want to study 16th century counterpoint
2) want to learn about other composers besides Palestrina, Victoria, and Morley (and the 3-5 other “biggies”)
3) want to hear what pieces sound like, and what the ranges and difficulty level is of a given piece before they seek out a score with words
Furthermore, if anyone wants a score off my site, he need only contact me, and I will furnish him with it (for a fair fee). Or, he can get many of the scores through all kinds of other ways.
Also, anyone familiar with this music should be able to underlay the text themselves (the composers hardly ever did their own text underlay).
You will not be able to print off the site: but again, if you are interested in a rare score, just E-mail me!
I need to make the above more clear on my site: sorry!
