Checking up on The Cantus Project

In an earlier post I mentioned The Cantus Project. In addition to reading up on their ambitious goal of reverently Englishing the Graduale Simplex while maintaining the melodic integrity of the chant(!), visitors can now sample two fruits of their labors—the entrance and processional chants for Palm Sunday: Hosanna filio David and Pueri Hebraeorum. Impressive!

This will be a spectacular accomplishment! With prayers, it will be widely spread and used.


A grand and glorious effort, to be sure, but breathtaking that such should be taking place a full quarter century after venacularization.
