One year ago today
I started this journal. In celebration <tongue-in-cheek>of this earth-shattering event</tongue-in-cheek>, I’ve added to the sidebar a plugin that automatically links to posts from one year ago.
I delineated some rather specific topics for this blog in my inaugural post. Have I kept to these four main topics? Let the reader decide.
As far as the next year goes (if it even makes it to two years), it’s a bit wider open. As I won’t be fettered with leadership responsibilities for a parish or campus music ministry, the first and last objectives of last year largely won’t apply this year.
Possibly in the future, the second objective might be fleshed out to embrace specific composers, or to look for music that might be accessible to the typical parish choir, given their willingness. As far as the third objective goes, the posts on Sacrosanctum Concilium and GIRM unfortunately have been central, as far too many people (especially priests!) don’t know, seem to know, care or seem to care about fidelity to “mere externals”.
I don’t know what else there is to say, so poke around. Tell me what you want to see around these parts. If I can do it, I will. If I can’t, I’ll tell you. Thanks for reading.

Congrats on the anniversary, AAE!
All together now, in Tone IV A,
For he’s a jolly good fellow.
Which no one can deny …
That deserves a cringe! ![]()
