Lenten worship wars, southern front!
Here’s another e-mail I got from another student. Names remain to martyr the innocent. ![]()
Could you send me a PDF of the chant setting of the Salve Regina? I’m at home for Spring Break, and while I’m home my mom wants me, her, and another guy to record a tape of the Rosary in Latin; while we were practicing today, I was lightly chanting the Salve when we got to it, and she said she thought it’d be good to go ahead and sing it for the tape—so, that’s why I’m looking for the music, to be sure we get it right. She (my mom) teaches Latin, and she says she’s had a bunch of people ask her about a tape of the Rosary in Latin, ’cause they want to learn it! Neat, huh? I love southern Louisiana. The parish where she goes, too, has (at the behest of the…Bishop (I won’t use more colorful descriptors so as not to make this a near occasion of sin)) formed a “liturgy committee,” which he (the Bishop) hoped would make the parish more “contemporary”—only it’s backfiring on him: the committee’s first project was to research the history of head coverings for women, and their results were to start reintroducing veils, which are getting popular among the younger women!
Anyway, that’s just the background. I hope you’re doing well!

There’s an excellent recording available of the Pope leading the Rosary in Latin.
Oh, PLEASE, PLEASE,PLEASE let me know when you get this completed. I have a couple of recordings of the Holy Father reciting the Rosary in Latin, but they are hard to understand due to the fact there’s a few hundred or thousand people doing it with him. I know the words, insofar as reading Latin, but I would really appreciate a clear recording for pronunciation purposes.
Thanks and God Bless!!!
