What’s on tap for Lent
A steady diet of Conry and Cooney, Haugen and Haas, with some Norbet and Fishel on the side. Basically, EveryParish, U.S.A. Sponsored by the Liturgical-Industrial Complex. At least the Ubi Caritas was approved for the Communion Song for the last weeks of Lent, and they didn’t “negotiate” the Gospel Acclamation. The choir will sing both in parts. And the Mass setting is Land of Rest, which we will do with minimum accompaniment.
I can take solace in the fact that someone at a campus ministry somewhere out there is singing good music for Sunday Mass.

Hey, you forgot ours!
Oh! I’m dreadfully sorry. I’ll have it corrected shortly.
Makes me think of Isaiah:
“And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.”
Anything that reminds us that this is not our final home isn’t all bad, right?
Mark - Sorry you missed tonight, though of course it was for a critical cause. We used a new setting with antiphon melodies adapted from the Graduale Simplex, and it was - dare I say - even more transcendent than it normally is. Even with all the wrong notes. Even with people singing off-key. Well, you all will get a taste of it tomorrow at Compline.
Thanks. Unfortunately, the Pitt Newman Club homepage doesn’t have a link to the choir stuff. There’s some soundfiles here:
