Of course, there are the ‘alternate’ lyrics for Pan de Vida:
Pancho Villa
Terror of the West
Pancho Villa
Of Banditos the best!
….

I’ve never seen that before!
Is there more to it?
On a side note, I was shocked by Bob Hurd’s latest CD, “Ubi Caritas” — the difference between that and his “Pan de Vida” is like night and day.
It is not a table of plenty…it is a table of sacrifice. Why these tacky hymns? Just curious. When these come up I just clam up.
The (lay)person who was preaching (and calls it a homily) asked for them, and I obliged. The original hymns selected were quite markedly different - I’ll put those up when I get them from work.
I agree with you wholeheartedly that such hymns are musically tacky, and they’re not always TC (theologically correct).
